Corneal ulcers are a serious vision-threatening infection that can have any of a number of causes. Corneal ulcers that are not treated can penetrate the cornea, allowing infection to enter the eyeball. If not treated early, these ulcers will cause a major loss of vision and possibly the loss of the eye.
Your ophthalmologist may use fluorescein dye to better observe the wound. Antibiotic eye drops are used to treat the infection.
