Durysta

Durysta is a biodegradable, intracameral implant used to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension (high eye pressure). It is a prostaglandin analog that works by increasing the flow of fluid out of the eye, lowering intraocular pressure (IOP).

How it works:

  1. Durysta is implanted in the anterior chamber of the eye during a short, outpatient procedure.
  2. The implant slowly releases bimatoprost over a period of several months.
  3. This sustained release of medication helps to keep IOP low and prevent further damage to the optic nerve.

Benefits

  1. Convenient, once every 6 months up to a year treatment.
  2. Designed to lower IOP
  3. May be an alternative for patients who cannot tolerate eye drops or have difficulty adhering to their treatment regimen

Eligibility

Durysta is typically prescribed for patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who have not responded well to other treatments, such as eye drops.
