STUART I. KAPLAN, OD

Dr. Stuart I. Kaplan is a 2001 Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry Alumni and he joined Tyson Eye in 2002. He is the Program Director for their Dry Eye Program. He is a Clinical Investigator/Sub Investigator in over 42 clinical trials relating to glaucoma management, intraocular lenses and dry eye therapy.

Dr. Kaplan was awarded the Best of Cape Coral—Optometrist of the year – Cape Coral Daily Breeze in 2004, the Florida Optometric Association Outstanding Local Society Member in 2010, the Florida Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year in 2016, the NOVA Southeastern Distinguished Alumni award-College of Optometry in 2016, the Florida Optometric Association Edward K. Walker Optometrist of the Decade in 2019 and the Exemplary Service and Dedication to the Board of Optometry – Governor Ron DeSantis & Scott Rivkees, MD State Surgeon General in 2021.

Dr. Kaplan is a Past President of Southwest Florida Optometric Association (swfoa.com) and served on the Florida Board of Optometry from Jan 2013 – Mar 2021, as Chair Oct 2014-Mar 2021.

DR. STUART I. KAPLAN, OD

Dr. Kaplan lectures on Jurisprudence, Prevention of Medical errors and Amniotic membranes and Bandage Contact Lenses. He has had two posters presented at ARVO and has been published in Optometric Management.

Dr. Kaplan is a Past Commander of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 9-1, FMB and a Past Commander of the Southwest Florida Jewish War Veterans Post 400. He is a decorated Gulf War veteran who served for four years in the United States Army and four additional years in the Florida Army National Guard.

 Dr. Kaplan is married to Dr. Angela Kaplan and has four Children: Morgan, Chase, Orion and Zane.

Dr. Kaplan is happy to call Southwest Florida home with his wife, Dr. Angela Kaplan, and his four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, boating, visiting amusement parks and other family-oriented events. In addition to boating, his hobbies include scuba diving and biking.
